Channel 7 - Pop Tab Pandemonium

Help "Pick Up The Tab" for the Families at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Arkansas!!

The first annual Pop Tab Pandemonium School Contest kicks off this fall! It is our hope to collect millions of pop tabs before the end of the school year to help support the Ronald McDonald House of Arkansas, while at the same time teaching our children about the benefits of recycling and giving back to their community.

How Does This Work?

Pulaski County School principals need to register their school to participate in the contest. They will then receive all of the Pop Tab Pandemonium materials including letters for teachers and parents and pop tab teaching materials which can be integrated into lesson plans. See official rules below.

Here comes the fun part: Save pop tab all year long! Students are encouraged to get their family and community involved with this program and help increase their chances of winning the contest! The contest will end on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, 2009 when all schools will drop off their tabs to be weighed. The school will the most pounds of tabs per student will win the 2009 Pop Tab Pandemonium Contest! The Winning school will receive all kinds of fun prizes including possession of the Pop Tab Pandemonium Trophy, prize drawings for the students and an assembly to thank all students and school faculty for their support. This assembly will be broadcasted live on KATV Channel 7 and will have a special guest of none other than Ronald McDonald himself! A gift will also be presented to the winning school using 5% of the total amount of money raised through this contest.

Pop Tab Pandemonium Q & A

What does RMHC do with the pop tabs?

We take them to our local recycling company and the money we receive helps keep our doors open for families in need.

Why the pop tab and not the whole can?

The pop tab is made out of a more pure form of aluminum so it is more valuable. Plus it is easier and cleaner to store pop tabs compared to the whole can. This is important for the Ronald McDonald House because we must keep a safe and clean environment for our families.

Why are Pulaski County schools the only ones allowed to participate in the contest?

It is our hope to extend this contest beyond Pulaski County in the future, however, for the first year we are keeping the contest local in order to work out all the details. If your school is outside of Pulaski County we still encourage you to collect pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House of Arkansas. It is still a fun program to start in your school and your school will already be ready when we are able to extend the contest to your area.

How do I get my child's school registered for the contest?

Contact your child's principal and encourage them to register today. Registration forms are available at the Ronald McDonald House of Arkansas. Please contact Kelly Caldwell at 501-374-1956 or kellyrmh@windstream.net. The registration form and information sheet can also be downloaded from the following links:
